The 2009 Vintage in Burgundy is very much worth your attention. It's a drinking vintage, built for the short and medium term, with loads of ripe pleasure. While there are some prime cellar candidates, the 2009's are so open and accessible, right out of the gate, it will be tempting to drink them all up over the next year or two. The Reds are the superstars in this vintage, offering quality across the entire Cote D'Or and at every price point.
But, don't take our word for it. Taste for yourself!
On Saturday, January 28th from 4-7 PM, we'll be opening up a wide range of reds and whites from the 2009 vintage. Whether you're a Burgundy novice looking to learn more or an old pro who wants to make up your mind about the vintage, this is a can't miss opportunity to sample some of the greatest wines in the world!

USQ welcomes winemaker Fabio Allessandria to the Salon for an evening of vini Piedmontesefrom his famed G.B. Burlotto estate. The great-great grandson of Giovan Battista Burlotto, a distinguished producer who supplied wines to the Savoy royal household, Fabio has brought renewed acclaim to his family’s holdings in and around the village of Verduno. Verduno’s limestone-rich Monvigliero vineyard is among the great Barolo crus, and no wines with the designation are finer than Burlotto’s. In addition to the Monvigliero, Burlotto produces elegantCannubi, the Acclivi (a Barolo crafted with a blend of Verduno-based fruit), and a bargain-pricedBarolo normale, along with a fresh, lively Dolcetto, Barbera, and Pelaverga. Attendees will enjoy the following wine program, including verticals of the Barolo Cannubi, poured as an informal walk-around tasting. Guests will be able to engage with directly with Fabio throughout the evening, and an assortment of savory snacks will be on hand to enjoy alongside the wines.
The Program:

EVENT: NYC’s favorite wine tasting takes to the Best Buy Theater (formerly NOKIA) in Times Square once again as we transform this prime venue into a winter wonderland brimming with wine…a vineyard of gargantuan proportions, if you will! Enjoy wines from all over the world – great Zinfandels from California… Super Tuscans from Italy… full-bodied Bordeaux from France… and some fantastic wines from Latin America. More than 200 wine selections to taste in all! In previous years, this now annual event was named the “must attend event” of the first weekend in February by NBC Local Television. And for the last two years the event SOLD OUT… so make plans NOW to be sure you warm up with us in early February and sip amazing wines during one of two sessions: One in the Afternoon (3pm-6pm) and one in the Evening (8pm-11pm). Last years’ sessions added up to more: more wine, more food, and more room to stretch out and enjoy… this year, join us for all that and more! See last year's WINE LIST. FOOD: Cleanse your palate between tastings with delicious hors d'oeuvres, cheese, bread, and crudités. (Full meal not provided. Light hors d’oeuvres only.) WINE CLASSES: Upgrade your tickets for access to our VIP Wine Classes area. Indulge in an exclusive tasting of special wines in a VIP Wine Class led by nationally recognized wine expert Leslie Sbrocco, founder of Thirsty Girl and a frequent Today Show guest. (Please Note: There is an additional charge of $25 per ticket for VIP Classes.) Afternoon session Evening Session MUSIC: This year, for your sipping and swaying pleasure we present "Nu Jazz" artists Four80East, performing in the final hour of each session (5-6pm / 10-11pm). Inspired by the acid jazz/groove movement flourishing in the UK in the late 90’s, Canadian remix producers Tony Grace and Rob DeBoer (collectively known as Boomtang) launched Four80East as a cool, creative side project geared towards a loose, improvisational dance vibe. Over the last decade, as chill music established itself as a genre, their jazz inflected urban trance music -- considered “trip-jazz” or “Nu Jazz” - became a global phenomenon. Born as a small indie UK release in 1997, “The Album” went on to revitalize the smooth jazz world the following summer when the first single, “Eastside”, broke through in the US to became the 7th most-played track on Contemporary Jazz radio that year. Several albums and Billboard Chart positions have followed as the smooth Jazz community continues to embrace their sound.
